Dr. Björn Ratjen
Dr. Björn Ratjen is the founder of Integrated
Communication and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who specializies
in assisting people of all ages and walks of life through difficult
life and death situations.
Drawing on his 25 years experience as a
firefighter, Björn has learned practical and
effective tools
and techniques that are valuable in emergency situations. He is often
called
upon for critical incident debriefings, working with local
authorities and victims to respond to
the needs of an emergency
situation.
Björn has been actively involved in
international and multi-cultural educational issues and
development
throughout his professional career. As a certified teacher and
experienced
facilitator, Björn develops workshops,
programs and evaluations for businesses, community
organizations and
government agencies, focusing on Loss and Grief, Critical Incident
Stress
Management, Psychological First Aid, Recovery from
Trauma, and Conflict Resolution.
Björn’s passion is in assisting others
with self-exploration and personal growth in a group setting, where his
relaxed personal style fosters open communication, sharing and
opportunity. Björn’s ability to view situations from
different perspectives and respond to
an individual’s needs is
a key to his success as a counsellor, teacher and group facilitator.
Björn volunteers his time in the areas of community development
and mental health advocacy and delivers workshops on
inter–personal communication, parenting skills and special needs.
Björn holds a Certificate in Client-Centered
Counselling, a Professional Teaching Certificate and is Certified
Master in the Art of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). His
additional and specific education includes Advanced Critical incident
Stress Management, First Responder Level 3 and Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Besides English, Björn
is fluent in French and German and brings
multi-cultural
experience and an often appreciated sense of humour
to events.
Diana Pink,
Workshop Coordinator
Diana Pink is a wife, daughter, sister, cat lover,
caregiver, step-parent, volunteer, graphic designer and a social
entrepreneur, striving to do her part each day to make a
difference
in the world, from her beautiful corner in the Cowichan.
For the last ten years, Diana has been involved in
the design, production and publishing of visitor guides and other
tourism-related publications. Six years ago, Diana and her husband
David started Pink Creative Concepts Ltd., a full service graphic
design studio offering
a range of products and services.
Diana is a dynamic and passionate humanitarian who
believes strongly that we all need to help each other. Working
with Björn to increase his profile and the important work that he
does, has given Diana an opportunity to utilize her administrative,
organizational and people skills to develop workshops and training all
over Vancouver Island and the lower Mainland
of British Columbia.
Diana Pink’s volunteer and community
involvement include working with the
Cowichan United Way for
three annual fundraising campaigns, helping to raise over $1m
and
dramatically improving the profile of the agency; and for the last two
years, Diana has donated her graphic design skills to assist the Cowichan Family Caregivers Support Society
with their fundraising and communications.
